Bend Cider Co. – Bend Adventures

A trip to Bend always includes exploring something new.  Bend Cider Co. was our destination of choice on our next stop for Bend Adventures.  There we met and had a great discussion with Sarah Pollock Holmes.  She let us know the history of Bend Cider Co and what an amazing story of how it all got started.  So excited to share what we learned and experienced at Bend Cider Co., everything from the very flavor forward sampling the ciders, enjoying the beautiful weather and even getting out of my comfort zone to try something totally unexpected when it comes to cider flavors.

Beginnings of Bend Cider Co.

Kelly & Tammy Roark started by planting a small orchard and watching it grow so eventually they could use the apples for their ciders.  Their dream was to create a “locals spot” that featured really great dry hard cider.  Together they built this amazing spot that even more than the locals can enjoy. Plus from what we heard production is getting bigger and opening a facility truly in Bend.

Offerings

They do have some staple varieties they offer on a consistent basis.  When we were there, we got to sample Huckleberry Ginger, Guava Hibiscus, Peach Strawberry, Pomegranate Pineapple, and Blackberry Ancho.  As we were chatting with Sarah she told us all about the White Sage/White Oak and so of course I had to try a sample.  I was a little apprehensive about trying it but as someone who is open to new things I gave it a go!  WOW I’m really glad I tried it.  The sage flavor came first and the oak followed and settled in the back of the throat for a pleasingly warm sensation.  I can only liken it to the feeling of a warm hug. It was really awesome and if they did crawlers, I would have taken some home with me.

Outdoor Adventure

This location is perfect for getting together to enjoy the weather, catch up with friends/family or even enjoy some music while you sample some great ciders.  The grounds are so inviting and set up perfectly to relax, put the day or work week behind you and experience some amazing outdoor environment they have to offer.

Getting There

I found them in the “Bend Brews and Beyond” flyer and put the address into google and away we went!  Just a warning, it has a Bend address, but you will actually end up in a cute little community called Tumalo.  Technically it is just outside of Bend and considered an unincorporated community.  It is so very cut and definitely worth the drive.  Right across from Bend Cider Co is a “farmer market” with some amazing fruits and vegetables.  What a great adventure to get some amazing cider along with local fruits and vegetables all in one stop!  Another great adventure on our trip to Bend Oregon!

Final Thoughts – Bend Cider Co

If you are in the area, you need to make this a stop for great cider, atmosphere and a very comfy backyard relaxation area.  Something for everyone and they are pet friendly!  With production adding a larger facility in Bend, more areas will now get to experience this amazing cider where you live.  The best part, they are already in the Boise area in our local markets.  So excited that even if I can hang out at the cidery, I can get this awesome cider at home!
