Crossings Vineyards & Winery – Glenn’s Ferry, Idaho

On a trip back from Shoshone Falls, I wanted to stop at a winery in Glenn’s Ferry. Crossings Winery was one we hadn’t heard of so it was perfect for our little adventure.  Previously known as Carmela Winery, Crossings is under new management, with a new wine maker who is featuring some new wines with unique and unexpected aspects.  My favorite wines are sweet ones and finding 3 new ones was extremely exciting for me.  In addition to the sweet wines, they have an extensive reds, whites and dry wines.  There is something for everyone!  Let me introduce you to 3 uniquely amazing wines found at Crossings Vineyards & Winery.

Adelita Winarita

Let me introduce you to Adelita Winarita. This wine is a Chardonnay wine with a Margarita flavor. Served in the coolest tasting glass with salt on the rim and a lime in the glass.  Try it first without the salt so you can taste the unique flavors, add the salt and the lime — it tastes just like a Margarita!  It was an unexpected surprise and just lovely.  This one is best served over ice with salt and a lime wedge.  Furthermore, I bought two bottles.

Passion Peach Sangria

My ultimate favorite of today was Passion Peach Sangria. Also served over ice, it was love at first taste. According to the winery, “For 30 years we have been making Sangria at the winery but soon it became so popular we had to start bottling it! Mixed with a Riesling from Hagerman our Sangria has a 13% alcohol content. It is a great drink to share with friends in the hot summer temperatures over ice and a slice of peach. We served it at the first annual Mountain Home Country Music Festival in 2015 to wide acclaim, many asked if it could be found in a bottles – Now it Can. Enjoy it year round.” Can I just say this was so amazing, I got 3 bottles because I do not want to run out!

River’s Mist

The third selection I purchased is a bottle of River’s Mist. This unique blend is actually two non-sweet wines that when put together become sweet. “Crossings Winery’s version of a white zinfandel wine. Mixed with aged Chardonnay, we add the fresh Bleu Noir juice which gives the sweetness to the wine.” This wine is so unusual and different that you will definitely want to have several one hand.  I’m told they are best served at a BBQ.

Perfect for a Special Event or A Weekend Getaway

Do you need a weekend getaway?  Crossings has cozy cabins and camping available plus a full service lounge, restaurant and RV site.  Located right at the ferry crossing, you will have plenty to explore and discover.  Looking for an amazing location for a wedding?  Then look no further — this picturesque vineyard is the perfect place!  It’s just a quick little trip from Boise and easy access on/off the freeway, perfect for spend time with the family, discover a bit of history or create a relaxing retreat — this area has so much to offer you will definitely enjoy every minute.
