Our trip to Houston was not complete until we experienced Día de los Muertos alive at Ambriza Social Mexican Kitchen.  We were told it has some of the best authentic Mexican cuisine with a twist.  Plus, the margaritas were to die for.  With that combination, we can’t wait to get there and experience all it has to offer.

Ambriza Social Mexican Kitchen Experience

As we approach the door, we are greeted by vibrantly adorned calavera statues.  The Día de los Muertos theme is depicted everywhere we look.  More calaveras are positioned throughout the restaurant and colorful mural line the walls.  La Catrina watches over the hungry patrons from the main wall.  We could not help but be transported into this truly unique cultural experience.  As we learned, the Día de los Muertos is not something to fear, but rather to embrace as a “symbol of unity, distinction and cultural pride.”  We are immediately drawn into the excitement, energy and activity of this very busy restaurant.

Ambriza Social Mexican Kitchen Drinks

Excited to get the party started, we looked at the margarita menu.  So many to choose from with very unique, distinct flavor combinations.  The best part, if you didn’t know what you wanted to try, they will bring you a sample.  Our friends told us we needed to try the Cucumber Serrano as it was their favorite.  Why not!  When it arrived at the table, we got not only the glass but the rest of the shaker too!  The first sip hit my taste buds with a perfect blend of cucumber and serrano.  In addition to the flavor explosion, I got a burst of heat as it traveled down my throat.  We also tried the Hibiscus, Pineapple Serrano & Passion Fruit Habanero.    Every one of them was unique different and so yummy!

Ambriza Social Mexican Kitchen Food

Just so you know, this is not Tex-Mex, this is authentic Mexican cuisine with a uniqueness all their own.   As we got ready to order, the waiter appeared with one of their signature dishes, Street Corn.  Yum from the first bite!  The extensive menu made choosing extremely difficult.  We settled on beef empanadas, queso horneado and poblano corn chowder to start.  Our entrees were swiss enchiladas and enchiladas verdes.  The food was fantastic and more than we could eat so we packed it up to take home for later!  Ambriza has found a way to bring this cuisine to life!

Ambriza Social Mexican Kitchen People

The staff not only deliver high quality customer service, but they make you feel like friends and family.  If you ask them, “We believe that not only should our guests enjoy our food, but also find new friends, share a laugh, and create fun memories.”  I think that truly says it all.

Adventure Grammy Recap

Día de los Muertos alive at Ambriza Social Mexican Kitchen was an adventure we will never forget.  The experience, the food, the people and of course, the margaritas are to die for!  My favorites were the Cucumber Serrano Margarita, Street Corn, Queso Horneado, and the Poblano Corn Chowder.  However, with that said, you cannot go wrong with anything you try.  This is truly one of the BEST authentic Mexican restaurants I’ve every experienced and we will go back again next time we are in Houston.  So, go get your adventure on and try something new!
