Every adventure needs to include a local brew pub, right?  Kona Brewing Company has it all.  The beautiful backdrop of lush greenery in the open-air environment can’t be beat.  Great food and a large selection of Kona Brews top off our evening!  We loved it so much we went back a second time.

Kona Brewing Company History & Brewery Tour

Kona Brewing, founded in 1992, combines the natural beauty and love of Hawaii with delicious brews that reflect the feeling of the Island.  Late for the tour, we missed out.  However, we did sample their great beers which we will talk about more in a bit.  The tours run from 10:30 – 3 pm daily and offer a fun, informative tour plus 4 – 4oz samples and a free gift.  They are going to opening a new brewery very close the current location in 2019.  This  definitely give them more room to brew their amazing beers.  Kona Brewing Company produces bottle beers on the Island as well as mainland draft beer in Portland, Oregon & Portsmouth, New Hampshire.   This gives us the opportunity to enjoy the Island even when we get back home to the Mainland.  I’ve already researched where I can get my favorites here at home!

Brews

Excitement abounds as we get seated and I know that I’m just minutes from having a few great beers.  I was handed a “menu” listing some of their most popular beers plus there was even more in the regular menu.  How was I going to be able to choose since I had so much to choose from?  So, we decided to ask questions and narrowed it down to 3, one of which we tried on our second visit.  Our favorites are:  Duke’s Blonde Ale, Kanaha Blonde Ale and Lemongrass Luau.  As we waited for the beer to arrive, we then tackled the amazing menu which held a huge selection as well.

Food

You need to come hungry because just reading the menu made me want to order one of everything.  We settled on Portuguese Lasagna and Pahoehoe Spicy Chicken Pizza.  Each of these had their own unique flavor which pleased our palettes to the point we just didn’t want to stop eating.  Our second visit we enjoyed the Naalehu Nachos with the Portuguese sausage.  Their cheese sauce was so amazing, I needed to get a second cup of it.  The food definitely was unique, very tasty and obviously brought us back a second time.

Adventure Grammy Recap

We love the food and the brews here at Kona Pub & Brewery.  The people are warm, welcoming and the service is better than I’ve seen.  They know their brews and food so be sure to ask what they recommend, you won’t be disappointed.  The environment is tropical and a perfect setting to relax and enjoy everything they have to offer.  You will find that you want to come back multiple times because you can’t experience the brews and food all in one stop.  Before you leave, you need to visit the store and growler station to grab beer to enjoy during your stay and a souvenir to commemorate your trip.

Time to go get your adventure on!
