Waffles are one of my favorite foods and after Saturday’s “War of the Waffles” at Waffle Me Up in downtown Boise, I have 4 new favorites.  Shane Matlock, owner The Burgundian: Coffee and Waffles in Providence RI came home to Boise to visit family.  Hector Garcia, owner Waffle Me Up in downtown Boise invited Shane to throw down in a waffle war where East Meets West.  This epic battle provided a sweet and savory waffle from each chef and they were amazing.  If you missed out on this event, here’s a recap of what went down on the plate for all to enjoy!

Waffles – East, Shane Matlock — The Burgundian:  Coffee and Waffles

Shane’s sweet waffle offering, Coffee Milk Syrup Waffle combines “Coffee Milk Syrup infused with Mascarpone Whipped Cream and Espresso infused Fudge Drizzle”.  The flavors explode in your mouth and you can taste each one bite after bite.  The savory Liege waffle called the Hashtag Waffle is a “Hash of Portuguese Chorizo, Onions, Red Peppers & Poblano Chili-like Crema, Cilantro and Cotija Cheese.  What a creative way to bring all these amazing ingredients together for an unforgettable culinary experience.  I fell in love with this savory spicy waffle at first bite and literally couldn’t stop eating.  Want to know more?  Click here.

Waffles – West, Hector Garcia – Waffle Me Up

Hector, not to be out done, came up with two amazing offerings that keep you coming back for more.  Creativity abounds in this sweet waffle, “The BIG S’more”.  This waffle brings together Nutella, Mexican Vanilla scented whipped cream, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, a dusting of Valrhona Cocoa Powder and a drizzle of a marshmallow cream sauce (a secret recipe).  Northwest Chicken Waffle is served up on a famous Liege Waffle for Hector’s savory waffle.  Toppings include “hand-dipped buttermilk crispy chicken with a Lingonberry Chutney, Sriracha Hollandaise sauce and Sweet Potato Tumbleweed”.  I’ve always wanted to try chicken and waffles, so I was very glad this was on the menu.  Totally amazing and I will definitely get this next time we go!  Waffle Me Up is family owned and you can tell they love what they do!  Click here to learn more about this amazing downtown Boise business.

Adventure Grammy Recap

As a foodie who watches every food show on television, this event could be its own show!  These two-amazing chefs really know how to dish up a truly amazing experience.  You can’t help but fall in love with their waffle creations.  While I probably won’t get to Rhode Island any time soon, I’m so glad I had the chance to experience Shane’s incredible culinary creations.  Now that I’ve been to Waffle Me Up, I can guarantee we will definitely go back.  Even my husband Dave, who had never experienced a savory waffle got his adventure on!  He loved the sweet ones and was truly amazed at just how good a savory waffle could be!  What are you waiting for, get on down to Waffle Me Up in downtown Boise.  One of the best places I have ever eaten.  Be sure to tell them, Adventure Grammy sent you!
