Originally started in a garage in Vista California, Mother Earth Brew Company is now over 70,000 square feet in two locations.  A home brew hobby turned into a family business in 2010 and remains that way today.  Their goal “to challenge even the most discriminating beer drinker by creating complex, palate-pleasing beers, and to promote the art and science of craft beer making”.  The newest location is in Nampa Idaho where we had the pleasure to chat with Head Brewer Chris.

Atmosphere

As you walk into their Nampa location, you can help feel like you are home.  It reminded me of Cheers, where everyone knows your name.  You could tell this was a popular place and it seemed like Dan (owner) knew everyone who walked through the door.  The rustic yet industrial tap room surrounded by the tanks, gives it a uniquely warm, inviting feel.  You are right in the middle of the action.  If you get their early on the days they are open, you can watch them brewing beer.  How awesome is that!

Beers

You definitely want to do a flight and as always, let the crew pick the brews.  You don’t want to miss out on the unique diversified selections you will be given.  Here’s some of our favorites from the tasting:

  • Cali Creamin: “Vanilla Cream Ale Madagascar vanilla bean gives this beer a ‘cream soda kick’”.  It is delicious, smooth and packed with vanilla flavor without being sweet.  Truly an experience you do not want to pass up on.  One of the best beers ever!
  • Sin Tax: “Imperial Peanut Butter Stout dark malts lend espresso notes and British crystal malts contribute the perfect toffee and caramel flavor”.  Take all of that and then add peanut butter to “augment what is already there” and you have a fantastic beer.  Full-bodied with a dry finish that leaves you wanting more, more, more!
  • Bookoo: “Mosaic IPA bursting with flavor and aroma, finished dray and most importantly hop-forward”.  It is easy to see why this beer is #1 in Idaho.  Well blended, packed with flavor and very nice to drink.  A great beer for any season.
  • Fresh as it Gets:  Hops sourced locally from Gooding Farms it is a special release.  Light and refreshing with an earthy taste and amazing flavor.  Loved meeting the hops grower and being able to check this new beer.

  • Zingaro: “Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout, rich blend of stout vintages, you can ‘expect a beautiful silky-smooth warmer with soft tannins, medium oak, and barrel-imparted vanilla notes’”.  This is actually an archived brew and it is great to enjoy when available.  Flavorful, bold and smooth make this an unexpected favorite for me.

Brewed Thoughts:

A little hard to find, Mother Earth Brew Company is definitely worth the challenge to locate.  Great place to hang out, get together with friends and enjoy some unique, exciting beer sensations!  They have live music, a food truck (sometimes) and great beer (always) – you may just want to live there.  Just saying!  The crew are amazing and everyone makes you feel like family!  This brewery is a great addition to the Nampa area and we are really glad to have them here with us!  Ready to get your adventure on?
